What is preemptive security?
Preemptive security means acting on risk before an attack lands, rather than detecting and responding after it does. For human risk, it means lowering the risk of the people and AI agents attackers are most likely to reach, before they reach them.
How it works
Preemptive programs use threat, access and behavior data to predict where an incident is likely, then act there first: tighter controls for high-access users who are heavily targeted, coaching for behavior that precedes compromise.
In the open HRM Maturity Model, Preempt is level 5, after Comply, Observe, Prioritize and Orchestrate.
Why it matters
Every incident the SOC does not have to handle is time and cost saved. Acting earlier on the few people and agents driving most of the risk is where human risk programs return the most.
