CyberEscape Online Pre-Launch Strategy

Pre-Launch Recommendations and Considerations for a successful CyberEscape Online campaign

Confirm Technical Requirements are Met

💡If target audience is large, please review each step below prior to each campaign launch.

  1. Ensure all whitelisting has been completed for all regions and networks
  2. Encourage testing prior to campaign launch across various office locations
  3. Select storyline and socialize across your organization's key stakeholders for feedback and increased awareness prior to launch
  4. Establish Marketing and communications plan strategies with Marketing Resources for all Storylines to increase engagement

Establish CyberEsape Online Use Case(s)

💡 Consider your primary use case(s) to establish a successful CyberEscapeOnline campaign launch strategy

  1. Targeted Engagement (HRM): Encourage vigilant behaviors to improve security posture, Human Risk Index, and Behavior Score
  2. New Hire Orientation/Onboarding: Establish your security culture by enrolling new hire groups in a mandatory or optional CyberEscapeOnline session within 90-120 days after their start date. Pros: Networking for new hires across the business and security culture established on their first day
  3.  Phishing Remediation: Enroll repeat or chronic clickers in a CyberEscape Online session using a storyline focused on phishing vigilance as their phishing remediation training
  4.  Cybersecurity Awareness Month: Schedule various CyberEscape Online sessions throughout the month of October and incentivize participation with gamification (see below)
  5. Gamification: Promote a CyberEscape Online storyline to encourage registration by offering incentives with points or prizes to increase engagement
  6. Org-Wide Ongoing Engagement: Schedule various sessions during a recurring time on designated days/weeks/months for participants to register for any session based on their availability via a link posted on your SharePoint or intranet

Establish Primary Objective

💡  Based on your primary use case above, establish your primary objective to determine your hosting method, target audience, participation requirements, and target completion rate

  1. Targeted Engagement: Improve HRI, improve behavior score, encourage adoption of vigilant behavior, encourage risky behavior change
  2. New hire orientation: All new hires are enrolled in a mandatory (or optional) 45min. CyberEscape Online session within 90 days of their start date to establish a culture of security with new employees
  3. Phishing remediation:

Hosting Method:

  1. Moderator free
  2. Hosted

Target Audience per Session: Consider how many participants you want in each session

  • Max Participants: You can have up to 15 participants in each session
  • Depending on your target audience, we recommend targeting between 4 - 8 participants, as this allows for the most conversation and participation among users

Participation Requirement:

  • Optional (engagement, ad-hoc, contest, October)

  • Mandatory (new hire onboarding, phishing remediation)

Marketing and Communications Strategies

💡 Establish a marketing department contact if you don't have permissions to send internal comms. Partner with other departments to schedule sessions and promote storyline around other organizational wide events.

  1. Inviting Participants: Decide how to communicate your campaign launch to employees and encourage participation and build any necessary marketing materials. Employee Marketing Templates
  2.  Notification delivery method: Confirm approvals to announce campaign launch through preferred channels - Email Marketing, ost on intranet or SharePoint site, slack, MS teams, or similar channel

Gamification

Leveraging the Leaderboard

The leaderboard is a helpful tool to gamify your experience! The 3 fastest teams are added to the top of the leaderboard, along with the participants and completion time. You'll also be able to view the completion times of other teams outside of the top 3. You can market the leaderboard internally to drive competition and engagement as Teams compete for the top spot!

Leveraging the Leaderboard

  1.  Create Competition - Leaderboard competition (fastest teams, beat leadership time, raffle entry): This works best in a department or role-based campaign, but can work org-wide as well. Ask your leadership to complete the Escape Room before launching to the broader audience so their time is first on the leaderboard. At Campaign launch, encourage employees to beat leadership's time for a chance to win a prize.
  2.  Points and Prizes (swag, gift card, lunch with leadership, half-day)
  3.  Internal Recognition (certificates, email recognition, spotlight)
