- Create access secret and key
- Enter API Details

For Mimecast's documentation on this process, please click this link

Currently, we only support Mimecast's 1.0 API. This means our integration is designed to accept API values that are not generated by version 2.0.

🔒 Create an API application

  1. Log on to the Administration Console.

  2. Navigate to Administration | Services | API and Platform Integrations.

  3. Click on the your Available Integrations tab and select the Mimecast API 1.0 card.

  4. In Add API Application, fill in your application details as follows:

    1. Application Name: Enter a name for your application.

    2. Category: Select Digital Risk...

    3. Service Application: Select Enable Extended Session.

    4. Optional: enter a description for the application.

  5. Click Next.

  6. In Notification Settings, enter an administrator's name and email address to receive notifications about the API application.

  7. Choose whether or not Mimecast can notify the administrator when the API is updated.

  8. Click Next.

  9. In Review Information, check that the information is correct and that Status is Enabled.

  10. Click Add.

  11. Copy the Application ID and Application Key.

ℹ️ You must wait 30 minutes before you can create and save the Access Key and Secret Key, which you also need.

👤 Create a service account user

ℹ️ The Admin role must be assigned before generating keys, or you will receive the following error:
"Sorry, something went wrong. Please close this page and try again. If the issue persists, contact Support."

Note: The service account user does not need a mailbox or access to mail flow to function unless you plan to use email as a two-factor authentication mechanism. A misconfigured Service account will produce the following error: "The supplied address may not be used for this purpose."

  1. In your Mimecast Administrator Console, go to Directories > Internal Directories.

  2. Select the domain and click New address.

  3. Create a service user and enter a password for it.

  4. Click Save and Exit.

  5. Go to Account > Roles.

  6. Click New Role and enter a name, for example Living Security Unify.

  7. In Application Permissions, select the following permissions:

    1. Monitoring Menu > Attachment Protection > Read

    2. Monitoring Menu > URL Protection > Read

    3. Monitoring Menu > Impersonation Protection Logs > Read

    4. Monitoring Menu > DLP > Read

  8. Click Save and Exit.

  9. Click on the role you created.

  10. Click Add User to Role.

  11. Search for the service user you created and add it to the role.

ℹ️ Mimecast will require an IP Address to be whitelisted for the credentials to work if you are using an Admin IP restriction policy.

For NA customers, please use 54.243.223.88/32.
For EU customers, please use 34.247.15.192/32.
